There is nothing more special than the day you get down on one knee with Engagement Ring and propose to the person you love more than anything else. You’re hands are shaking, your heart is thumping. As you slowly begin to drop to the one-kneed pose it feels like it’s taking an eternity. You reach into the inside pocket of your suit jacket and pull out a small box. It suddenly hits your partner what is happening and the joy is sinking in. As you open the box, the glimmer of the perfect engagement ring shines in the moon light.

It’s a moment you’ve both dreamed about and when you slide the ring onto her finger it… it doesn’t fit!.

You don’t want to find yourself in this position, but it is all too common. People will spend so much time picking out the perfect engagement ring for their partner that they don’t even realize how important it is to that proposal moment to make sure you bought the right sized ring.

There are a few easy ways to go about finding your partner’s ring size, and in this article, we’ll help you with some of the good, and not so good ideas.

Borrow One of Their Rings

If your significant other is someone who wears rings often, this can be the simplest way to get their ring size without spoiling the surprise. Pick out on of the rings they wear often and bring it to a jeweler – they will be able to tell you exactly what size it is. Now you know when you buy the engagement ring you will be buying it in a size that they are already wearing.

Caution: Make sure if you use this strategy you pick a ring they definitely wear often. You don’t want to grab a ring they’ve outgrown or something that they hold onto for sentimental value, because then you might end up with the wrong size completely.

Wait Until They Fall Asleep

Another way to find their ring size is to wait until they are out cold to test it out. Take a string or piece of thread and wrap it around their ring finger. See how long the portion wrapped around their ring finger is and use that to determine their size.

Caution: This approach can be risky. First, you might accidentally wake them up, and then you will find yourself in an awkward position explaining yourself out of that one. Don’t even try this approach if they are a light sleeper. Second, you need to make sure that you don’t wrap the string too tightly or too loosely in order to truly find the perfect fit. This can lead to improper sizing as well.

Ask Your Partner

This one might seem obvious, but maybe you don’t have to keep it a secret. If you’ve been in a relationship for a while and are ready to propose, there’s a pretty good chance they are expecting you to propose sometime soon too. You can still keep the actual proposal a surprise, but getting the ring size is important. Contact a jewelry like Indischen, and they will send you a free ring sizer. This is the best way to rest assured that you pick the right size.

When Meghan Markle made a FaceTime cameo during Prince Harry’s recent appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” she did so wearing a crystal necklace with special significance.

As confirmed to Page Six Style on Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, paired her $30 puff-sleeved Velvet Torch dress with a far pricier piece: a $1,295 trapezoid-shaped lapis lazuli pendant from The Airelume, the “collection of wearable talismans” by her friend Taryn Toomey’s brand, The Class.

“Lapis lazuli aids in self-expression and revelation of one’s inner truth,” the product description reads. “This stone is widely regarded as a token of sincerity and wisdom – and is especially helpful to anyone in need of a boost in self-confidence and a stronger connection to their inner voice.”

Markle’s brief appearance on “The Late Late Show” came just days before the Sussexes’ explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, during which the Duchess said she felt “liberated” to finally be able to speak for herself. The tell-all touched on topics ranging from racism to mental health.

It makes sense that Markle would pick a piece from Toomey’s jewelry line; she’s been pals with the fitness guru for years, and Toomey was even in attendance at her star-studded NYC baby shower in 2019, when the Duchess was pregnant with son Archie.

And it’s far from the first time she’s sent a message with her choice of accessories; for her sit-down with Winfrey, she wore Princess Diana’s diamond tennis bracelet as a way to keep her late mother-in-law close, according to her spokesperson.

And before confirming that she and Prince Harry, 36, are expecting a baby girl, Markle seemed to hint at her second child’s sex with a pink sapphire ring.

Wedding bands have an unfortunate tendecy towards clouding up and collecting grime over time, giving away their sheen to dirt, water spots and more. Aside from wearing them less, which many couples will want to avoid, the solution to this is give them a regular spot clean. People can opt for a professional clean if they want, but there are DIY methods to reclaim a shiny wedding ring.

Cleaning a wedding ring can cost £10 or more, depending on the jeweller. They charge for the cost of using their tools and time and provide the best results. There are several ways people can reach a similar quality of cleaning at home, however.Altogether cleaning wedding rings is a task which should only require 30 minutes.

People will need the following ingredients for the process:

Wedding rings will need to sit in a bath of dishwashing soap and warm water for 30 minutes.

Once they have been submerged for half an hour, a toothbrush should clear any offending marks or grime from the band.

They will need rinsing with warm water once more to conclude the process.

People can use this method to clean any ring, whether gold, silver or inlaid with a diamond.

Can I use bleach on my rings?

Bleach and other chemicals such as chlorine may seem like a no-brainer for cleaning grime.

But while they may be at home in a toilet bowl, these chemicals are too abrasive for wedding rings.

Even substances like baking soda can break down the metal and any inlaid gems over time.

Ultrasonic cleaning

People with extra money who find their rings get dirty constantly can use the ultrasonic method.

Ultrasonic cleaners use sound waves to extract grime from objects without abrasive contact.

These cleaners cost between £40 and £70, and the resulting sheen will rival most jewellers.
